Apple unveils iPhone Air — its thinnest iPhone yet

Apple has revealed the iPhone Air, a new model in the iPhone line-up that is thinner and lighter than any previous version.
At just 5.6mm thick, the handset is built from grade 5 titanium with a mirror finish. Both the front and back are protected by Apple’s Ceramic Shield, with the company claiming three times better scratch resistance and greater durability than before.
Despite its thin build, iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, offering up to 120Hz refresh rates and 3,000 nits peak brightness outdoors. An Always-On mode shows time, widgets and notifications at a glance.
A new 18MP Center Stage front camera allows wider selfies, landscape shots without rotating the phone, and stabilised 4K video. On the back, a 48MP Fusion main camera offers multiple focal lengths, an optical-quality 2x telephoto zoom and improved low-light performance.
The phone runs on Apple’s A19 Pro chip, paired with new N1 wireless and C1X cellular processors. Together they deliver faster performance, 5G efficiency gains and support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
Apple says the slim internal design still leaves space for a larger battery, offering “all-day” use. Adaptive Power Mode in iOS 26 manages consumption more intelligently.
The iPhone Air is eSIM-only, with support from more than 500 carriers worldwide. Apple says this makes it easier to switch networks or add local plans while travelling.
The device uses 80% recycled titanium and 100% recycled cobalt in the battery, and comes in four colours: space black, cloud white, light gold and sky blue.
Pre-orders open on Friday, September 12, with the iPhone Air on sale from Friday, September 19.
