macOS Tahoe 26 releasing on September 15

Apple has confirmed macOS Tahoe 26 will launch on Monday, September 15.
The update introduces a refreshed design, major upgrades to Spotlight, deeper Apple Intelligence features and tighter continuity with iPhone — including the Phone app arriving on Mac for the first time.
Mac adopts Apple’s new “Liquid Glass” look, with translucent effects that reflect and refract surroundings.
Key elements such as the desktop, Dock, sidebars and toolbars have been reimagined to elevate content while keeping the familiar Mac layout.
The menu bar is now transparent and customisable, letting users choose layouts, controls and even app icon styles, tints and folder symbols.
For the first time, the Phone app comes to Mac. Calls can be made and received using a nearby iPhone, with access to Recents, Favourites and Voicemail.
Apple Intelligence adds tools like Call Screening, which answers unknown numbers and previews the caller’s details, and Hold Assist, which stays on the line until a live agent picks up.
Live Activities from iPhone also appear in the Mac menu bar, showing updates on rides, flights or sports scores. Clicking opens the app instantly via iPhone Mirroring.
Spotlight has been overhauled with unified, smarter results across apps, files, messages and calendar events.
Users can filter searches — for example, by PDFs or emails — and even search third-party cloud services.
Browse Views help discover content by category, such as installed apps, clipboard history or recent documents.
Spotlight can now perform hundreds of quick actions, from sending a message to starting a timer. Third-party apps can also add their own actions through App Intents.
Safari gains floating tabs, a redesigned sidebar and improved access to saved items.
Messages on Mac now supports personalised backgrounds, polls, and a new details view showing shared photos, links and files. Group chats also gain typing indicators and easier participant management.
The Journal app debuts on Mac, giving users a larger canvas to reflect on daily life or events.
Entries can include locations, maps and multiple journals, all synced across devices.
