Trainline app down: Users blocked and unable to book tickets

The Trainline app, a widely used platform for purchasing train tickets in England, is experiencing a significant outage affecting users nationwide. Commuters are reporting that they are being blocked from accessing their accounts, unable to purchase new tickets, or display previously purchased tickets.
When attempting to access the app, users are met with a message that reads, “You have been blocked. We have checks to prevent misuse by automated bots. Please contact support.” This issue has left many passengers unable to show proof of purchase for travel or show digital railcards, which could lead to fines if ticket inspectors are unable to verify their tickets.
This technical disruption is causing major inconvenience for travellers, particularly those who rely on Trainline to secure tickets and manage their journey plans. Passengers are finding themselves without access to their purchased tickets. Moreover, the inability to access digital railcards or new tickets adds to the problem, as passengers face potential fines or the inconvenience of not being able to travel.
Trainline: Account Blocked
Many travellers have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to vent their frustration over the Trainline outage. One user wrote, “I’m literally on a train right now and can’t access my railcard or ticket. If I get fined, this is on you.” Another said, “This is actually ridiculous. I’m blocked from the app when all I’m trying to do is show the train staff my ticket and railcard! What am I supposed to do?”
Trainline has yet to acknowledge the outage or provide any workaround for users. One alternative appears to be showing emails as proof of purchase, though this may not work in all situations—especially for tickets selected for in-station collection, as the required collection code is inaccessible due to the issues.
