Apple has announced updated AirPods Max, featuring new color options and a shift to USB-C charging. This update marks the first refresh of the AirPods Max lineup since its initial release in 2020. Aside from these changes, the updated models do not include new capabilities or enhancements in audio quality beyond the addition of Personalized Spatial Audio with iOS 18.
The updated AirPods Max will be available in five new colors: Midnight, Blue, Purple, Orange, and Starlight. These colors are designed to complement other Apple products such as Mac and iPad. The switch to a USB-C charging port replaces the previous Lightning connector, offering increased convenience for charging both at home and on the go.
The new AirPods Max models are available for pre-order at $549 (U.S.). They will begin shipping on September 20. Customers purchasing any AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max can also receive a three-month free trial of Apple Music as part of a promotional offer.
