Apple may eventually launch pay-monthly “Apple Intelligence+” subscription

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to monetise some of its artificial intelligence capabilities through paid services similar to iCloud+ subscriptions.
In his recent Power On newsletter, Gurman outlined that while initial access to Apple Intelligence will remain free, Apple’s long-term strategy includes potentially introducing “Apple Intelligence+.” This subscription model would provide additional features accessible through monthly fees.
Gurman suggests that by establishing AI services as a separate revenue stream, Apple aims to counteract the impact of slower hardware upgrade cycles and reduce its dependence on hardware innovations for business growth.
Furthermore, Gurman anticipates that Apple will earn a portion of revenue from user subscriptions to AI services offered by partners such as Google and Anthropic. These partnerships are expected to be formalised alongside the launch of Apple Intelligence in the fall, coinciding with the rollout of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.
