Threads updated with translations, feed enhancements, more

Meta’s popular Twitter rival, Threads, has been updated to add activity feed improvements, translations, a follows tab on the activity feed, and more.

Threads has been widely described as a potential “Twitter killer,” launching at a time when users are revolting against the changes made to the platform since its acquisition, including loosened content moderation, controversial changes to its verification system, a focus on paywalling features such as TweetDeck, and the recent introduction of rate limits, which cap how many tweets users can read.

With the latest update, the app binary size has been reduced and new fixes have been added to reduce crashes. Additionally, the update includes a handful of small bugs.

Threads recently hit over 100 million users, less than a week after launching earlier this month.

What is Threads?

Threads is Meta’s attempt at recreating Twitter. The platform features verification badges, public profiles, bios, follower counts, pages for creators, public figures, and businesses, and more. “Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow,” reads the app’s App Store listing.

“Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things – or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions, and creativity with the world.”
