iPhone 15 Pro rumored to feature solid-state volume and power buttons
Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that next year’s new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could feature solid-state volume and power buttons, replacing the mechanical buttons on the current models and simulating the feeling of a physical press by adding additional Taptic Engines.
Similar to how Apple dropped the mechanical Home button from the iPhone 7 in favor of a solid-state button, the new volume and power buttons Kuo suggests may come to the iPhone next year would mimic the feeling of a physical press by making a small vibration from a reported two new Taptic Engines on the internal left and right sides of the new devices.
My latest survey indicates that the volume button and power button of two high-end iPhone 15/2H23 new iPhone models may adopt a solid-state button design (similar to the home button design of iPhone 7/8/SE2 & 3) to replace the physical/mechanical button design,” Kuo reports.

As Apple did with the Home button on the iPhone 7, users will likely be able to customize the feel of the volume and power buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro, with new settings allowing users to change the strength of the vibrations that simulate the physical press.
