Apple celebrates New Year with firework display on Apple Watch

Apple is celebrating the New Year with a special firework display on Apple Watch, lighting up the wrists of wearers as the clock hits midnight and the New Year begins around the world, carrying on the celebration with a watchOS notification which when pressed again triggers the colorful firework clock face.
The special firework display has been around since the release of watchOS 4, with Apple doing something very similar on an Apple Watch wearers birthday – instead in this case the Apple Watch shows balloons floating across the watch face throughout the day.
The firework display is turned on automatically, so you don’t need to change any settings or install any apps to receive this little easter egg from Apple.
In addition to the Apple Watch firework display, whenever a user sends an iMessage saying “Happy New Year!”, on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, the fireworks screen effect within Messages will be added to your message, filling your iPhone or iPad message thread with fireworks.
