Man compromised thousands of iCloud accounts to find nude photos

A man from Los Angeles County has plead guilty after obtaining the log in details to thousands of iCloud accounts to access a total of 620,000 private photos and videos in a plot to find nude images of young women, federal authorities have revealed, reports The Los Angeles Times.
The man, aged 40, has agreed to plead guilty to four felonies, including conspiracy to gain unauthorized access to a computer, court records show.
According to the report, the man deceived unsuspecting victims by posing as an Apple employee in emails requesting Apple IDs and passwords, gaining access to at least 306 iCloud accounts across the United States, most of which belonged to young women.
The man was caught after compromising the iCloud account of an unnamed public figure in 2018. The victim’s images were uploaded to a pornographic website and the FBI launched an investigation, which found the iCloud log in details of the victim in the scammer’s possession.
