Apple may not upgrade iPhone camera lenses until 2022, according to Kuo
Respected TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that Apple may not upgrade iPhone camera lenses until 2023, suggesting that the company will keep the updated seven-element lens assembly found on the iPhone 12 until at least 2022.
In a research note published today, seen by MacRumors, Kuo reports that Apple has no plans to develop upgrades to its lens system in 2021 or 2022, which would suggest that any camera improvements for the “iPhone 13” and “iPhone 14” would be made only through software enhancements.
The report mainly focuses on the pricing of camera lenses suppliers, but offers a small insight into what the analyst believes may be on the cards for the future.
Additionally, Kuo says that a periscope camera may come to the iPhone in the future, but not for two years.
