Apple to release iPhone 12 earlier than usual in South Korea, claims report
Apple could release this year’s new iPhone models earlier than it has done previously in South Korea, according to a report from The Korea Herald which suggests the iPhone 12 could be available at the same time as Apple’s usual launch countries.
Historically, Apple doesn’t release its next-generation iPhone models in South Korea until around a month after they launch in the United States, but today’s report claims that because of the countries’ strong 5G infrastructure and large user-base, Apple will prioritize the iPhone 12’s rollout in the country this fall.
“Apple Inc. is expected to launch its new iPhone 12 series in South Korea earlier than its usual schedule, sources said Monday, as the U.S. tech titan targets to attract more 5G users here. According to officials at local telecom operators, they are preparing to sell the iPhone 12 in late October or early November,” the report claims.
Apple is rumored to announce the iPhone 12 during an evening on October 13, with reports suggesting the new hardware will begin shipping on October 23.
This year’s new iPhone lineup is expected to prompt a “supercycle” of upgrades. To recap, Apple is expected to release four new iPhone models this fall: a 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 to replace the current iPhone 11, and a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max.
