Apple’s next iPad Pro will feature mini-LED displays, claims Ming-Chi Kuo
Respected industry analysts Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed Apple’s next iPad Pro will be the first to feature mini-LED displays, which are expected to be introduced the MacBook Pro and iMac line over the coming years.
Rumors have been pointing to Apple launching an updated iPad Pro with a mini LED display since the introduction of the current-generation device introduced at the beginning of the year, with sources saying the new iPad will offer the same display quality as OLED but consume less power and allow for Apple to create thinner, lighter designs.
Kuo suggests production of the new mini-LED iPad Pro models will begin during the fourth quarter of 2020, with display shipments expected to be down 50% to 300,000-400,000 compared to previous estimates due to yield issues.
Apple’s mini LED dies will be mass-produced in 4Q20, but due to yield issues related to the production process of display module materials, the 4Q20 display shipments have been revised down by 50% to 300,000-400,000. We believe that the mini LED display in 4Q20 will be used for the new iPad Pro.
