Apple to release ‘Plus’ version of its low-cost iPhone
Apple will release both a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch version of its forthcoming low-cost iPhone, according to leaked iOS 14 snippets obtained by 9to5Mac, with the new hardware fearing the A13 Bionic chip found inside the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.
The report, which refers to the new iPhone models as the “iPhone 9” and “iPhone 9 Plus”, reaffirms some previously rumored features, such as the new devices featuring a solid state Home button, Touch ID instead of Face ID and support for Apple Pay and its accompanying Express Transit feature.
There is no word yet on what these iPhones will be called, despite the report from 9to5Mac. Case manufacturers have already released “iPhone SE 2” accessories ahead of the hardware’s debut, and advertisements for the “iPhone 9” have been spotted in Asia.
Apple’s new low-cost iPhone models are set to be announced alongside the release of iOS 13.4, which is expected to roll-out as soon as later today.
