12-inch MacBook stock shortages hint a new model launching soon
Ahead of the release of new iPhone models in the fall, stock shortages for the 12-inch MacBook at Best Buy fuel earlier claims that Apple is preparing to launch new Mac hardware later this year, with the possibility of Apple introducing a new, ‘inexpensive’ MacBook ahead of the holiday shopping period.
As spotted by 9to5Mac.com, models of the 12-inch MacBook have gone out of stock, specifically, the Core i5 with 512GB of storage is out of stock in rose gold, space gray and gold, as well as the base rose gold model with a 256GB SSD.
While its possible Best Buy has simply ran-out of inventory, given the time of year it is more likely that Apple isn’t providing retailers with new stock, making way for new models when they launch.
The Apple Post reported on Monday that supplier Quanta is expected to see a surge in orders thanks to “new inexpensive” MacBook models expected to launch later in the year, with Taiwanese site DigiTimes claiming a new ‘entry-level’ was on the horizon.
Apple themselves are currently showing no shipping delay or stock shortages on their own site.
