iOS 11.4 beta suggests HomePod to gain Calendar support
Siri on HomePod could soon support Calendar requests according to the latest iOS 11.4 beta that updates the Personal Requests pop-up shown upon HomePod’s set-up, mentioning Calendar integration for the very first time.
The new HomePod set-up screen was first spotted by 9to5Mac who note that when setting up HomePod for the first time the iOS pop-up now shows a Calendar icon, unlike previously when users were only shown examples of apps that work with Siri on HomePod such as Messages, Reminders and Notes.
Siri’s limited capabilities have been highly criticised by early HomePod reviewers such as ourselves at The Apple Post. Many have described Siri as very half baked, and certainly is not at a level to compete with the in-depth requests users can ask Alexa on Amazon Echo.
With Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) a month away its likely will soon see further updates to Siri on HomePod and an expansion to the number of task/requests users can make. | Calendar support will likely rollout alongside the public release of iOS 11.4.
