Apple reportedly planning to slow iPhone X production due to ‘weakened demand”
A new report published this week by Economic Daily News (via Reuters) claims that Apple is planning to slow down iPhone X production in the first quarter of 2018, with the company set to downgrade manufacturing from 50 million units down to 30 million units.
It appears analysts believe that the high price-point of the iPhone X will lead to a decline in user demand early next year, consequently causing Apple to slow down production of the handset. With the busy holiday shopping season finished, and the mass initial wave of customer orders fulfilled, the high price of the device is again causing market watchers to predict “weakened demand” in early 2018 (via Bloomberg).
iPhone X is now available in 97% of Apple Stores within the US, compared against 44% of stores in the week before Christmas, and 25% of stores the week before that.
iPhone X
The iPhone X, pronounced “iPhone Ten”, features a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED edge-to-edge display with 2436 x 1125 resolution and 458ppi, HDR support, Dolby Vision, HDR10, and True Tone. The Home Button has been removed from the iPhone X, with Apple adding a new Tap to Wake feature which works alongside Raise to Wake.
iPhone X features the new A11 Bionic chip with a special neural engine that helps power Face ID which unlocks the device by taking a 3D scan of the users face. Apple says Face ID can’t be spoofed by photographs, masks, and makeup, and changing your actual appearance with a hat or beard or makeup won’t prevent Face ID from working.
