Apple redesigns Health app with Apple Intelligence, Health Age and personalized insights

Apple has announced a major redesign of the Health app for iPhone and iPad, introducing Apple Intelligence-powered insights, a new Longevity section and a Health Age feature designed to put years of personal health data into clearer context.

The redesigned experience is due later this year and will initially be available in U.S. English. Rather than simply presenting individual measurements and trends, Apple says the Health app will adapt to each user’s health and fitness information and surface guidance based on the data it collects.

A new Insights tab will provide summaries covering areas including heart health, sleep, readiness, fitness, vitals and cycle tracking. These summaries can change throughout the day as fresh information becomes available.

Apple is also adding a For You section with personalized recommendations and educational content. For example, the Health app could suggest changes to a user’s wind-down routine after identifying a pattern of late nights.

The second major addition is a Longevity tab, which takes a longer-term view of health across areas including heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement, metabolic health, hearing and nutrition.

Within Longevity, a new Health Age feature will compare selected health measurements with a user’s chronological age. Apple says the calculation can use Apple Watch information including VO2 max, resting heart rate, sleep and heart rate variability, while users can add laboratory measurements such as A1c and LDL to provide additional context.

Information from iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, clinical health records and compatible third-party apps and devices can contribute to the broader longevity view.

Apple is also introducing at-home Movement Evaluations. Using an iPhone camera and Apple Watch, users will be able to complete assessments covering flexibility, strength, balance, movement mechanics and VO2 max. Apple says the analysis happens on-device and video from the assessment is not recorded, stored or shared.

In the United States, users will additionally be able to purchase laboratory testing covering more than 50 biomarkers through the Health app for $119, with testing offered at approximately 2,000 Quest Diagnostics locations.

The redesigned Health app will require an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone or iPad running the latest software. Health Age requires an Apple Watch, and Apple says availability of individual features will vary by language and region.
