Apple has released the macOS 27 Golden Gate Release Candidate to developers and public beta testers as it prepares to make its latest major Mac software update available to everyone.
The Release Candidate is the final planned version of macOS 27 Golden Gate before public availability. If no significant problems are found during this last stage of testing, today’s build is expected to become the version distributed to compatible Macs.
macOS 27 Golden Gate has been in testing since Apple introduced the update at WWDC in June.
The Apple Post has been following macOS 27 Golden Gate throughout its development, including the changes coming to Mac users with this year’s release.
Registered developers and public beta testers can download the RC through Software Update in System Settings on compatible Macs.
Although Release Candidate builds are designed to be ready for public distribution, Apple can seed another RC if a problem is discovered before launch. If that does not happen, testers running today’s build should not need to install a substantially different version when macOS 27 becomes generally available.

The arrival of the RC signals that the months-long beta cycle for the initial macOS 27 Golden Gate release is almost complete.
