Apple has announced that watchOS 27 will be released on Monday, September 14, confirming when Apple Watch users will be able to download the company’s next major software update.
watchOS 27 was first unveiled at WWDC26 in June and has undergone several months of developer and public beta testing ahead of its official launch.

The update introduces Siri AI, new fitness and health capabilities, smarter suggestions, improvements to Smart Stack, and a number of changes designed to make Apple Watch more useful throughout the day.
Apple is bringing a dedicated Siri app to Apple Watch, allowing conversations to remain synchronized between devices. The app grid is also being redesigned to surface Siri-recommended, frequently used, and recently opened apps.
Workout Buddy receives new insights based on metrics including pace, distance, workout duration, and historical fitness data, while Apple has improved motion tracking for treadmill runs and indoor walks.
Apple has outlined its new Siri AI and Apple Intelligence capabilities, with several features extending to compatible Apple Watch models.
The Health experience gains new perimenopause and menopause support, while Smart Stack can provide more contextual suggestions based on information including birthdays, parked car locations, transit cards, and sleep schedules.
Apple is also combining Find People, Find Devices, and Find Items into a single Find My app on Apple Watch.
Elsewhere, watchOS 27 includes further Liquid Glass refinements, battery optimization recommendations, faster music playback, custom Wallet passes, and expanded child safety features.
Apple began testing watchOS 27 with developers following WWDC26 before releasing the first public beta of watchOS 27 in July.
Apple has been preparing the App Store for the update. As The Apple Post reported in August, Apple has automatically reprocessed some Apple Watch apps to resolve a compatibility issue ahead of watchOS 27.
watchOS 27 will be available to download on Monday, September 14 for compatible Apple Watch models.
Users will be able to install the update through the Watch app on their paired iPhone by navigating to General > Software Update.
