How to translate video captions on iPhone in iOS 27

Captions can make video content more accessible, and iOS 27 goes a step further by adding the ability to translate existing captions into other supported languages.
The feature is useful when a video already contains captions but they are not written in a language you understand. iOS can translate supported caption text while you watch.
Translation availability depends on the languages involved, your device and region, and not every video or caption format will necessarily be supported.
How to translate captions in iOS 27
- Play a video that includes supported captions.
- Turn on the video’s captions if they are not already visible.
- Open the available caption or accessibility controls.
- Select the option to translate the captions.
- Choose your preferred supported language.
- Continue playing the video and review the translated captions on screen.
If the translation option is unavailable, check that the original captions and both languages are supported by iOS.
