Apple has ‘left a lot of bold new features’ for Apple Vision Pro out, according to report

Apple unveiled its first-ever mixed-reality headset, Apple Vision Pro, that blends digital content with the physical world through a fully three-dimensional user interface controlled by a user’s eyes, hands, and voice, earlier this month at WWDC23, with the new device slated to release in 2024.
Despite showcasing some of the headset’s new capabilities, including being able to capture and display photos and videos in 3D, scan a user’s face and create a realistic digital avatar, and more, “Apple left a lot of bold new features it had been developing for the headset on the cutting-room floor—at least for now.”
A report from The Information claims that those new features include plans for fitness experiences, ambitious tools to help developers quickly and easily create augmented reality content and the ability to see full-body digital avatars during video calls, which are still being developed ahead of the headset’s release next year.
The report claims “At one point, though, Apple planned many more fitness and wellness applications for the headset, according to former employees who worked on the device. Some employees discussed collaborations with brands such as Nike for working out with the headset, while others investigated face cushions that were better suited for sweaty, high-intensity workouts, said one of the people. One proposal even involved wearing and interacting with content on the Vision Pro while on a stationary bike,” a former employee said.

The report claims that Apple had planned to make 3D content available on Apple TV+, but that could be announced later.
Earlier today Apple released its first-ever visionOS 1.0 developer beta, allowing developers to begin creating apps for Apple Vision Pro — Apple’s first mixed-reality headset.
