Twitter updates iOS app with new $7.99/month Twitter Blue subscription, offering blue verification checkmark

Twitter has today released an update for its iOS app, introducing its new $7.99/month Twitter Blue subscription that includes a blue verification checkmark for paying subscribers in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
With the new update, Twitter says “Power to the people: Your account will get a blue checkmark, just like the celebrities, companies, and politicians you already follow.”
Initially, reports had suggested that Musk would charge $20/month for blue badge verification, with the new CEO saying “The whole verification process is being revamped right now.” and that “[Twitter] needs to pay the bills somehow!”
Despite the App Store update, the ability to subscribe to the new $7.99/month Twitter Blue subscription is yet to appear for users inside the app, suggesting that Twitter will release a server-side update soon to begin allowing users to upgrade and receive the blue verification badge.
As well as the blue verification checkmark, the higher-priced Twitter Blue subscription will bring the ability to post longer videos to Twitter, see fewer ads, and more.
Twitter Blue with verification will launch on iOS in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
