X (Twitter) code leak hints at new Premium Basic, Premium Standard, and Premium Plus subscriptions
Elon Musk’s X (Twitter) appears to be working on new subscription tiers, with code referencing new Premium Basic, Premium Standard, and Premium Plus subscription plans, pointing at the platform’s current Premium subscription being broken up into three.
Currently, X’s only premium subscription (excluding it’s $1,000 Verified Organizations plan for businesses), is priced at $8 per month or $84 per year, offering users the once-sought-after, now pointless blue checkmark badge, access to select features, like Edit post, longer posts, custom app icons, custom navigation, and more.
As spotted by researcher Aaron, the latest version of the X app includes code for set of three subscription tiers, with it unclear how much the new plans, and how the change will affect current subscribers to the existing X premium subscription.
X Premium will be broken up into 3 tiers:

Premium Standard – Half Ads
Premium Plus – No Ads pic.twitter.com/I0CyaQf2ME— Aaron (@aaronp613) October 5, 2023
The change is the latest change made to the platform since Elon Musk’s turbulent acquisition of Twitter last year, which has seen loosened content moderation, controversial changes to its verification system, and a focus on paywalling features such as TweetDeck.
