Apple to release rumored new iPad Pro and MacBook Pro separately, report suggests

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is out with his weekly Power On newsletter, reporting that the launch of Apple’s rumored new iPad Pro is happening “in a matter of days,” suggesting that the device will feature the Apple M2 chip, offering a 20% speed boost compared to the current M1 model.
Unlike the launch of the iPhone 14 and new Apple Watch series last month, Apple isn’t expected to host a special event to announce the new iPad Pro. Instead, it is understood the devices will be introduced through a press release online.
Until today, it was expected that alongside the new iPad Pro, Apple would also release updated MacBook Pro models, featuring new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, offering performance improvements over the current-generation machines.
However, according to Gurman today, despite the machines being on track to launch in the near future, Gurman doesn’t expect them to be announced alongside the next iPad Pro, which the reporter says will be released “in a matter of days.”
Apple has previously launched new Macs during the month of November, so we may see the machines launch then.
Respected industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously shared that he expects Apple’s next-generation 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models to feature minor upgrades over the current M1 Pro and M1 Max machines in Apple’s lineup, besides upgraded chips.
Last month, Kuo said “The main upgrade of the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros is only the adoption of new processors,” with the new machines not expected to offer any substantial changes, as expected given that the MacBook Pro was fully redesigned last year, featuring an iPhone-style notch, MagSafe charging, a Liquid Retina XDR display, an HDMI port, and more.
