Apple reportedly launching new mini-LED MacBook Air next year
TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is usually fairly accurate when it comes to his knowledge of Apple’s future plans, has claimed in a note to investors that a new mini-LED 13.3-inch MacBook Air is planned to launch in mid-2022.
Ku0 is not the first to suggest an updated MacBook Air is in the works. Most recently, leaker “Dylandkt” claimed last month that the machines would launch during the first half of 2022 with a new “M2” processor.
Bloomberg reported in May that a revamped MacBook Air was planned following the launch of Apple’s redesigned MacBook Pro last year, with leaker Jon Prosser claiming Apple has been prototyping new colors for the machine, hinting that like the recently released iMac, Apple could make its new MacBook Air available in colors such as blue and green.

Apple is expected to announce its first mini-LED MacBook later this year with the launch new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, which are rumored to feature a HDMI port and SD card slot, an upgrade from the thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, and an “all-new design form factor,” expected to resemble the design of the current-generation iPad Pro and iPhone 12.
It has also been rumored that the new machines could feature a classic MagSafe magnetic charger and possibly may not feature a Touch Bar, which was first introduced in 2016.
