Slip-up sees customer get M1 iPad Pro a week early
Apple isn’t expected to begin delivering its new M1 iPad Pro until next Friday, however, ahead of schedule, one lucky customer has received their order ahead of time, getting their hands on the new device before it set to release publicly on May 21.
Posting on Reddit over the weekend, user “PeterDragon50” showed an image of their new 12.9-inch iPad Pro, ordered through retailer Nebraska Furniture Mart. The customer ordered the device when pre-orders began at the end of April, however, as initially spotted by MacRumors, the customer was informed that the order was available for pick-up over the weekend, allowing them to collect the order a week earlier than intended.
Apple still hasn’t given an official release date for the new iPad Pro, but a recent discovery on Apple.com showed mentioning of the device launching alongside the new colorful M1 iMac and updated Apple TV on Friday, May 21.
Retailers are required by Apple not to deliver or make pre-orders available to customers for pick-up prior to the device’s official launch date. This clearly looks to be a slip-up with Nebraska Furniture Mart, but no harm, no foul.
YouTubers are expected to share their first hands-on videos with the new iPad Pro later this week, showing the power of the M1 chip from the Mac, ultra-fast 5G, a new Liquid Retina XDR display for the larger 12.9-inch model, and more.
