iPhone 12 Pro Max the most popular 5G smartphone in the US, according to research

Apple has won the title of the most popular 5G phone in the United States with the iPhone 12 Pro Max, according to PCMag, which reports that the device is the most popular 5G phone in 49 of 50 US states.
Citing Speedtest.net and its parent company Ookla with research firm M Science, the title was given based on sales tracking and data from the internet until January 23.
The report says both Speedtest.net and M Science unsurprisingly point to the iPhone 12 mini as being the least popular iPhone in Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup, with the iPhone 12 Pro being the second-most-popular 5G device overall nationwide according to Speedtest.net, though M Science says the iPhone 12 is second-place nationwide.
The US is an iPhone nation. Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max is the most popular 5G phone in 49 of 50 US states, and the iPhone 12 Pro is the most popular 5G phone in the last one, according to exclusive new data from Speedtest by Ookla. Ookla and research firm M Science looked into usage and sales numbers for 5G phones in the US to get an idea of their popularity. And while it won’t surprise you that iPhones tend to be highly favored in the US, it’s notable that the biggest, most expensive iPhone pulled into the lead in both data providers’ rankings.
Samsung’s S20 and Note 20 line immediately follow the iPhones, according to the research, with the small Galaxy S20 5G joining the iPhone 12 mini as being amongst the less popular 5G devices.
