‘HomePod mini’ to be announced soon, no second-generation coming this year
Apple won’t release a second-generation HomePod this year, but a “HomePod mini” could arrive soon, potentially at next week’s “Hi, Speed” iPhone 12 special event, suggests reliable leaker @L0vetodream.
Rumors of a low-cost HomePod have been around for quite some time, with reports claiming Apple is looking to rival the likes of Amazon Echo and Google Home with a more affordable version of its Siri speaker, which went on sale over two yeas ago.
Earlier this week Apple stopped selling third-party speakers in-store and online, adding fuel to rumors that a HomePod update could be announced within days.

Until now it has been unclear whether Apple would release two new HomePods: an update to the main model and a new, smaller version at its October event, but @L0vetodream seems confident that only a “mini one” is destined to launch this year.
Here’s what we expect Apple to announce next week at its iPhone 12 event.
