Apple unveils new iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard

Today Apple has announced a brand iPad Pro that has been rumoured for a while. It looks virtually identical to its predecessor, but with a brand new camera unit that houses two cameras and a brand new LiDAR sensor. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is used to determine distance by measuring how long it takes light to reach an object and reflect back. According to Apple, NASA are using this tech on their Mars mission.
Along with this, speed improvements with a brand new A12Z Bionic chip promises 8-core graphics power and is said to outpace most PC’s.
The iPad comes with a brand new magic keyboard, which houses for the first time a full scissor keyboard, with backlit keys, and a new ‘hover’ design for the screen. The case has a USB C port which is used to charge the iPad, and it houses for the first time a brand new trackpad. The iPadOS has a new cursor which is promised to be a new experience when it comes to interacting with the iPad Pro. The cursor is being slated as the ‘biggest thing since point and click’ and appears when needed on the screen as your hover, then merges with the commands that you are hovering over. When hovering over the icons on the home screen, the icons raise and shine similar to the way they do on the tvOS.
The Magic Keyboard is £199 and is sold separately, and the Apple Pencil has received no new features and works the same as it did with the previous generation.
It will be available from the 25th of March, and the Magic Keyboard will be available in May.
