Apple rumored to be working on new gaming-focused MacBook or iMac for launch in 2020
Apple is supposedly working on a new gaming-focused Mac model to launch in 2020.
The sketchy report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News claims Apple will unveil either a large-screen MacBook or new iMac at WWDC in 2020 that will be targeted specifically towards gamers, with the source claiming the machine will be priced around the $5,000 mark.
EDN doesn’t go into very much detail with their report, so we suggest taking this lightly, especially given the limited library of games that can run on macOS, excluding those available through Apple’s pay-monthly gaming platform Apple Arcade.
The report comes shortly after the release of the Mac Pro – Apple’s all-new cheese grater-style powerhouse machine that features the world’s most powerful graphics card alongside Intel’s new Xeon processor, with up to 28-cores. The Mac Pro is highly modular, allowing buyers to customize it according to their needs. The new gaming Mac would likely follow a similar lead, allowing customers to configure the machine to their desired spec.
The Economic Daily News has a mixed record with news. The source reported prior to the launch of AirPods Pro that the new earbuds would be available in four colors, including black and midnight green to match the colors of the iPhone 11 Pro, although that never came to fruition.
