Apple touts Face ID as ‘more secure than Touch ID’ in new ad
Apple is airing a new ad in Singapore to tout Face ID as a quicker and more secure alternative to Touch ID.
The ad, shared to Apple’s official YouTube channel in Singapore, shows a man snoozing on a deckchair whilst he receives numerous notifications on his blue iPhone XR. After seemingly being woken up by the sound of the notifications, the man merely glances at the phone to unlock the device using Face ID to reveal his notifications.
The humorous 30-second commercial ends with the tagline “Face ID. Even easier and more secure than Touch ID.”
Apple doesn’t usually joke about its own technologies, especially when in this case, Touch ID is still being used on a range of its current hardware, such as the iPhone 8, iPad Air and Touch Bar-equipped MacBook Pro models.
