Apple announces new update to Apple Watch with watchOS 6
Apple has announced new updates to the watch, one of these updates includes new watch faces. This includes multiple watch faces, with a Gradient face being one example. These will be available natively on watchOS 6.
Not only watch faces have been added to the new OS, with Apple adding some brand new apps to the Apple Watch. These apps include Audiobooks, Voicememos, a new Calculator, that allows you to do tip calculations and also helps you with bill splitting.
Developers also got some love with this new OS, with the ability to be able to build an app for the Apple Watch only, and no longer needing to develop an iPhone app alongside it. This will allow developers to have more flexibility when developing new apps for the watch. Developers can create watch only apps that do not need iPhone apps.
With these new apps, Apple has finally added a brand new App Store to the Apple Watch, allowing you to download apps straight to the watch and from your wrist, not needing to download the app from the iPhone. Further cutting the reliance of Apple Watch from the iPhone.
Health has been updated on the watch, with Fitness Trends. It will track and show your trends with metrics such as Standing, Walking pace and Cardio levels. It also includes a new noise app, that helps track sounds and your hearing levels based on the noise it detects the environment around you.
In addition, for women, Apple has added a new cycle app, that allows you to track and manage your monthly cycles. It comes with a visual preview of your cycles, and also syncs with the Health app, showing you and giving you information on the health app, even without the watch.
Other features include automatic software updates from the watch, and Shazam Integration, They also showed off some brand new watch bands including a new pride band.
This update will be available in the Fall.
