Apple kickstarting annual free ‘Hour of Code’ sessions at retail locations on December 1
Apple has announced it will be kickstarting its annual free ‘Hour of Code’ sessions at all Apple retail locations across the globe on December 1, with classes available to people of all ages, including a special Kids Hour session available for children aged six to 12.
During the sessions participants over 12 years of age use the Apple-designed Swift Playgrounds app on iPad to learn coding concepts, while the children sessions see attendees explore coding using robots.
On an updated webpage on Apple.com, the company shares how earning to code “teaches you how to solve problems and work together in creative ways.”
Technology has a language. It’s called code. And we believe coding is an essential skill. Learning to code teaches you how to solve problems and work together in creative ways. And it helps you build apps that bring your ideas to life. We think everyone should have the opportunity to create something that can change the world. So we’ve designed a programme that lets anyone learn, write and teach code.
Those interested in Apple’s free Hour of Code sessions can register through the Today at Apple section of their local Apple Store webpage. Places are limited, with the sessions being held up until December 16.
