Multiple reports suggest next-generation iPhone models to support Apple Pencil
With the launch of Apple’s next-generation iPhone models quickly approaching, multiple reports are claiming two of the three new devices set to debut next month will be compatible with the Apple Pencil.
According to Taiwanese publication Economic Daily News, who reference “industry insiders,” the company is working to bring Apple Pencil support to its two premium iPhone models; the enhanced iPhone X, and the new 6.5-inch “iPhone X Plus”.
The report by the Economic Daily News matches what had been said by TrendForce earlier in the week who suggested alongside a 512GB top tier storage option for the two OLED iPhone models, Apple would include Apple Pencil support for the very first time on a device asides from the iPad.
One would presume that Apple will release a smaller, pocket-sized version of the Apple Pencil if the two next-generation iPhone models do indeed gain support for the stylus, and Apple could possibly release a new range of iPhone cases with Apple Pencil holders, however that is just speculation.
Almost every Apple enthusiast has seen the video of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs saying that “nobody wants a stylus” when announcing the very first iPhone in 2007, putting forward that no one wanted to bother with taking a stylus in and out of their pocket, or even risk losing it, however; with iPhone screens growing dramatically since then, and with more apps adopting Apple Pencil support on the iPad, Apple’s philosophy of not needed a stylus on iPhone may soon be about to change.
