Apple expected to discontinue iPhone X when second-generation model launches during late 2018
According to a new report by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is expected to discontinue the iPhone X later this year when the company introduces their 2018 iPhone line rather than following the tradition of continuing to sell older devices for a reduced price.
The decision to discontinue the iPhone X later this year has been decided because Apple doesn’t want a lower price iPhone X to damage sales of the low-cost 6.1-inch LCD iPhone that is expected to be introduced later this year, a device expected to feature a metal back much like the iPhone 7 and the True Depth Camera System for Face ID from the iPhone X.
Ming-Chi Kuo reports the new LCD iPhone model will launch in the second half of 2018 for between $650 and $750 in the United States. – It’s believed the lower-cost 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be available in a selection of metal back finishes unlike the iPhone X which is only available in Space Gray and Silver.
