What appears to be a leaked iPhone 8 chassis shows a rear Touch ID sensor and vertical camera module
What appears to be a leaked iPhone 8 chassis gives us a further glimpse of what to expect from Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone release. The leaked casing (via Weibo) again shows that Apple is serious about relocating Touch ID to the rear of the handset as well as introducing an all new vertically-positioned dual-lens camera module.
The leaked chassis appears to closely resemble schematics shared by profound Apple leaker Sonny Dickson earlier this week. Apple enthusiasts have taken to Twitter to show their disappointment about the possibility of Touch ID being relocated to the back of the device like some Android phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8.
Previous reports show that integrating Touch ID underneath the display of the iPhone 8 proved to be to challenging for Apple and with time ticking before the device needs to enter mass production, it looks as if the problem has been solved by eliminating Touch ID from the front of the handset all together.
The new iPhone 8 is expected to have a larger 5.8-inch OLED display with a near bezel-less design with a smaller casing than the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus.
