Facebook announces plans for an Apple TV application, launching soon with a focus on video content
Social network Facebook has today announced they shall soon be releasing their first Apple TV application onto the App Store, with a focus on allowing users to watch videos shared by friends or Pages they follow, live videos from around the world, and recommended videos based on their individual interests.
In a press release shared by the company today, Facebook revealed that they shall be releasing a suite of applications, available for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Smart TV, however didn’t specify a formal release date for the new applications.
“Finally, we’ve heard that people want more options for how and where they watch Facebook videos. Today we’re announcing a new Facebook video app for TV, which will roll out soon to app stores for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Smart TV, with more platforms to come.”

Last year we rolled out the ability for you to stream videos from Facebook to your TV, and today’s announcement expands this capability. With the app, you can watch videos shared by friends or Pages you follow, top live videos from around the world, and recommended videos based on your interests. You can also catch up on videos you’ve saved to watch later, as well as revisit videos you’ve watched, shared or uploaded.
