Apple releases iOS 11.2.1 and tvOS 11.2.1 restoring shared HomeKit access
Apple has today rolled out iOS 11.2.1, the eighth official update to iOS 11, and tvOS 11.2.1 with bug fixes, including restoration of remote access to shared users of the Home app.
The iOS 11.2.1 and tvOS 11.2.1 updates come after Apple disabled remote access for shared users in HomeKit following the discovery of a major security bug within iOS 11.2 which allowed unauthorised access to smart home accessories including locks and garage door openers. – Apple quickly fixed the bug internally, however doing so disabled remote access for shared users in HomeKit.
Apple’s iOS release notes simply read… “iOS 11.2.1 fixes bugs including an issue that could disable remote access to shared users of the Home app.”
