Apple is reportedly planning an updated 12-inch MacBook and refreshed 15-inch MacBook Pro to launch later this year
According to the often reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is reportedly planning to release an updated MacBook (12-inch) and MacBook Pro (13-inch & 15-inch) towards the end of the year that shall feature Intel’s next-generation Kaby Lake processor, with Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Pro exclusively gaining a new 32GB RAM configuration.
Ming-Chi Kuo’s report suggests Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Pro without Touch Bar is performing worse than Apple had expected, with the company considering a price cut later in the year to try and improve shipments. – The MacBook Pro with Touch Bar on the other hand is apparently performing “better than expected”, with Apple expecting Mac shipments to grow during the year ahead.
Following the same design as the current MacBook Pro models which were released late last year, Apple’s refreshed 15-inch MacBook Pro model is apparently being targeted at the high-end user base, with desktop-class 32GB RAM available to satisfy the needs of the consumer.
It’s believed that Apple’s next generation of MacBook will enter mass production during the second quarter of 2017, launching without any major hardware alterations. According to Kuo, the new 16GB memory option is hoped to bring the underdog machine into the hands of professional users.
