Apple Music Classical drops red in new app update

Apple Music Classical has a new look, with an update replacing its familiar red app icon with a black-and-white design and changing the colors of several controls inside the app.
Version 4.1 keeps the treble clef at the center of the icon, but now shows it in shaded black against a white background. Unlike the flatter icon used by the main Apple Music app, the Classical design retains some depth, with highlights and subtle transparency.
The changes extend beyond the Home Screen. Red accents previously used for selected tabs, playback buttons and links have switched to blue, bringing Apple Music Classical closer to the visual style Apple introduced for its main music app in iOS 27.2.
Apple has not called attention to the redesign in its App Store release notes, which describe version 4.1 only as an update containing stability and performance enhancements. That means users may notice the different icon before realizing the app’s controls have changed too.
The update is available for iPhone and iPad through the App Store. Apple Music Classical remains a separate download from Apple Music and requires iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. Existing Apple Music subscribers can use it without paying for an additional subscription.
