Apple Music unveils major rebrand with new logo ‘made by sound’

Breaking News Apple has officially unveiled a major new identity for Apple Music, introducing a redesigned logo, refreshed branding and a striking new visual system that the company says was physically shaped by sound.
The rebrand was revealed by Apple Music on Wednesday, confirming weeks of clues that the service was preparing for its biggest visual refresh in years. The new identity will begin appearing more widely with iOS 27.2, which is expected to launch next week.
According to Apple, the company worked with British producer Fred again.. and NEST Acoustics to create the new branding, using an original composition to physically shape the Apple Music logo.
Apple describes the project as a collaboration between music, craft and design, with the final animation captured entirely in camera rather than created purely through digital visual effects. Sound from the composition was used to create physical movement that formed the basis of the new Apple Music identity.
The result is a new black-and-white visual direction for Apple Music, moving away from the red and pink styling that has been closely associated with the service for years. The refreshed look includes a redesigned app icon, a heavier lowercase wordmark and new visual treatments across Apple Music.
The announcement confirms what had already started appearing across Apple’s latest software betas. The Apple Post reported earlier this month that Apple Music appeared to be getting a new logo after the updated wordmark began showing up in iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2.
Apple then pushed the redesign further in later beta releases. iOS 27.2 introduced a new Apple Music app icon and wider design changes, including monochrome widgets, a revised tab bar color and updated Library styling.
The same branding had also surfaced earlier at Apple Music Hall, Apple’s new live music venue at Battersea Power Station in London, suggesting the company had been gradually rolling out the new identity before formally announcing it.
