Apple says new MacBook Pro has 50 percent deeper bass and improved closed-lid audio

Apple has upgraded the six-speaker sound system in the new MacBook Pro, claiming 50 percent deeper bass, clearer high frequencies and improved audio even when the laptop is used with the lid closed.
The changes were announced alongside Apple’s new MacBook Pro, which also introduces Touch, Dynamic Island, the PROLED XDR display and M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
The redesigned audio system uses new woofers to increase low-end output and updated tweeters designed to improve sound dispersion and clarity.
Apple also says the new MacBook Pro includes dedicated audio tuning for closed-lid use for the first time. That means users who connect the notebook to an external display can still get a tuned speaker experience without keeping the MacBook Pro open.
Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos remains supported, while the built-in studio-quality microphones are designed for calls, recordings and voice commands.
The new audio system sits alongside a 12MP Center Stage camera and a broader redesign that makes both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro thinner and lighter.
The new MacBook Pro is available to pre-order now and begins arriving on Friday, November 6.
