How to use Duo FaceTime on iPhone Duo

Duo FaceTime lets two people sitting beside the same iPhone Duo take part in a FaceTime call using separate displays. The feature uses the foldable iPhone’s inner and outer screens together so the second person does not have to squeeze into the same camera frame.
When Duo FaceTime is enabled, the call appears on both displays. iPhone Duo uses its Center Stage front camera and under-display FaceTime camera to make the two-screen layout possible.
This is different from Dual Capture, which shows the person you are calling both the front and rear camera views in a single layout. Duo FaceTime is specifically designed to bring someone physically next to you into the call using the outer display.
How to turn on Duo FaceTime on iPhone Duo
- Open iPhone Duo.
- Start or join a call in the FaceTime app.
- Tap the screen during the call to show the FaceTime controls.
- Tap the More button.
- Tap Duo FaceTime.
The FaceTime call will then appear across both the inner and outer displays, allowing someone next to you to join using the second screen.
How to turn on Duo FaceTime while using Dual Capture
If Dual Capture is already active, you do not need to open the More menu. Tap the Outer Display Options button that is already visible on screen, then choose Duo FaceTime.
What is the difference between Duo FaceTime and Dual Capture?
Duo FaceTime and Dual Capture use iPhone Duo’s cameras in different ways. Duo FaceTime is for two people sharing one iPhone Duo during a call, with the inner and outer displays used together.
Dual Capture instead sends the person on the other end of the call both your front-camera view and a rear-camera view at the same time. Apple says everyone on a call using Dual Capture needs iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 or later.
Can you use both iPhone Duo displays during FaceTime?
Yes. Duo FaceTime is specifically designed to use both iPhone Duo displays at once. This can be particularly useful when the phone is partially folded and placed down, allowing two people in the same room to join the same group call without crowding around one camera.
Apple details Duo FaceTime in the iPhone User Guide. For more on the hardware and software built around its two displays, see The Apple Post’s complete guide to iPhone Duo.
