Leaker claims Apple is testing ultra-thin ‘Solo’ iPhone for 2027

Apple is reportedly testing another ultra-thin iPhone that could launch in 2027 alongside its anniversary model, according to a new rumor from leaker Majin Bu.
The device is said to carry the internal codename “Solo” and is allegedly in the final pre-production stage, with a prototype measuring around 7.8mm thick.
Majin Bu claims the design features a corner punch-hole display and takes inspiration from the iPhone Duo, with a very thin body and rounded edges.
The leaker also claims the project is currently on track, although the exact launch timing remains unclear and the device may not ultimately reach mass production.
According to the report, Apple could eventually market the device under the name “iPhone Pocket.” That name should be treated with particular caution, however, because Apple already used iPhone Pocket for its 2025 ISSEY MIYAKE accessory, making it far from certain that the company would reuse the branding for an iPhone model.
The broader idea of another experimental iPhone arriving in 2027 isn’t without context. Apple is already expected to make significant changes to the lineup around the iPhone’s 20th anniversary, while the launch of iPhone Duo has given the company a new premium form factor beyond its conventional Pro models.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone, iPhone Duo, starts at $1,999 in the United States and £1,999 in the United Kingdom, with pre-orders opening October 16.
The company is also believed to be preparing a major redesign for its anniversary iPhone, making 2027 one of the most closely watched years in the product’s history.
For now, there are good reasons to be cautious about the Solo claim.
Majin Bu has a mixed track record with Apple rumors. The leaker has previously shared some information that later proved accurate, including details surrounding iPadOS 26, but has also published claims that did not materialize, including a report that Stage Manager would come to USB-C iPhones with iOS 26.
MacRumors has similarly described Majin Bu’s record as mixed, while other Apple publications have questioned the sourcing of some previous leaks. That doesn’t mean the latest information is necessarily incorrect, but it makes independent corroboration particularly important before treating Solo as part of Apple’s established roadmap.
The images accompanying the claim should also be viewed cautiously. They show a thin, dual-camera iPhone-like device in what appears to be a manufacturing or testing environment, but the photographs alone don’t establish that the hardware is an Apple prototype or verify the reported specifications.
If the Solo project is genuine, it would suggest Apple is continuing to experiment with substantially different iPhone designs rather than settling on a lineup built only around conventional slab phones and iPhone Duo.
With the claimed launch still around a year away and no corroborating report from a source with a stronger track record so far, Solo remains an early rumor rather than a firm addition to Apple’s 2027 iPhone plans.
