When could Apple’s October event take place? Here are the dates to watch

October is shaping up to be another busy month for Apple, with several new products still expected before the end of the year and growing evidence that a new iPad mini, HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K are getting close to launch.
Apple hasn’t announced another event, and there is no guarantee that it will hold one. But if the company does have another presentation planned for October, its previous fall events give us some useful clues about when it could happen.
Looking back at Apple’s October events since 2012, the company has favored the middle and latter parts of the month rather than the opening weeks.
Apple held an event on October 23 in 2012, October 22 in 2013, October 16 in 2014, October 27 in 2016, October 30 in 2018, October 13 in 2020, October 18 in 2021 and October 30 in 2023.
There were no October events in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2024 or 2025, although Apple has increasingly used press releases and short videos instead of full events for some fall hardware launches.
The pattern doesn’t give us a magic date for 2026, but it does show that Apple has repeatedly waited until at least the middle of October before holding its second major fall presentation.
This year has another complication: iPhone Duo.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone opens for pre-orders on Friday, October 16 before reaching customers on Friday, October 23.
For one of Apple’s biggest new product categories in years, that gives the company a major launch to promote through the middle of the month. Holding another hardware event immediately before iPhone Duo pre-orders could risk competing with its own launch.
That makes the final week of October particularly interesting.
Apple has used October 30 twice for major hardware events. In 2018, the company held its “There’s more in the making” event in Brooklyn on October 30, unveiling a redesigned MacBook Air, Mac mini and iPad Pro.
Five years later, Apple returned to exactly the same date for its “Scary Fast” presentation on October 30, 2023, where it introduced the M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max chips alongside new MacBook Pro models and an updated iMac.
The 2023 event also demonstrated how little warning Apple needs to give. Apple announced “Scary Fast” on October 24, just six days before the presentation.
The same happened in 2021. Apple announced its “Unleashed” event on October 12 and held the presentation six days later on October 18, unveiling the redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, M1 Pro and M1 Max, AirPods 3 and new HomePod mini colors.
Older October events generally followed a similar pattern, with invitations often arriving roughly a week before the presentation.
That means the absence of an invitation as October begins shouldn’t be taken as evidence that an event isn’t happening. If Apple follows its previous approach, we could be well into the month before anything is confirmed.
So which dates should we watch?
Based purely on Apple’s previous scheduling and this year’s unusually crowded October calendar, the period after iPhone Duo reaches customers on October 23 looks particularly interesting.
Monday, October 26 through Thursday, October 29 would give Apple room to complete the initial iPhone Duo launch before turning attention toward its remaining 2026 hardware. An event around that period would also sit comfortably within the late-October window Apple has used several times before.
That isn’t a prediction that Apple will hold an event on one of those dates. Apple has announced nothing, and its recent approach means a traditional event isn’t the only possibility.
In 2022, Apple unveiled new iPads and the third-generation Apple TV 4K through press releases on October 18. In 2024, it announced the A17 Pro iPad mini through a press release on October 15 before dedicating three consecutive days at the end of the month to new Mac announcements.
Apple could easily repeat that strategy in 2026.
The next iPad mini, HomePod mini 2 and fourth-generation Apple TV 4K have now appeared in leaked Apple code and imagery, while new Macs and Apple’s long-rumored smart home hardware have also been linked to the final months of the year.
As The Apple Post reported earlier this month, as many as seven new Apple products have been linked to October or the closing months of 2026, although not all are equally certain to arrive next month.
If Apple only has iterative updates such as a faster Apple TV, HomePod mini and iPad mini ready, press releases may be all it needs. If the lineup includes a substantially redesigned Mac or the introduction of an entirely new smart home product category, there would be a much stronger reason to put together another presentation.
For now, the calendar may be the most useful clue we have.
Apple’s history points toward the middle or end of October, iPhone Duo occupies much of the middle of the month, and Apple has shown repeatedly that it can announce an event with less than a week’s notice.
If there is another Apple event coming in 2026, the final week of October is the period we’ll be watching most closely.
