How to set Time Allowances for your child’s apps in iOS 27

iOS 27 gives parents more flexible control over how much time children spend using different types of apps with Time Allowances, part of Apple’s updated Screen Time experience.
Time Allowances can be applied across app categories such as Games, Entertainment and Social Media. Apple also provides age-based guidance as a starting point, while leaving parents free to adjust the limits to suit their own family.
The feature is designed for situations where parents want to manage overall time spent on a type of activity rather than setting limits individually for every app.
How to set Time Allowances in iOS 27
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Open Screen Time and select your child.
- Choose Time Allowances.
- Select the app category you want to manage, such as Entertainment, Games or Social Media.
- Review the suggested allowance and adjust the amount of time if needed.
- Save the allowance to apply it to your child’s device.
You can return to Screen Time whenever you need to increase or reduce an allowance. This makes it possible to adapt the limits as routines, school schedules and your child’s needs change.
