MacBook Neo 2 reportedly coming in 2027 with A19 Pro chip, 12GB RAM and new colors

Apple is reportedly preparing a second-generation MacBook Neo for 2027, with three upgrades expected to improve the company’s entry-level laptop just a year after the original model made its debut.
The next MacBook Neo is expected to move from the A18 Pro chip to the newer A19 Pro, while Apple is also said to be increasing unified memory from 8GB to 12GB. The extra memory could be one of the most meaningful changes for buyers, giving the affordable Mac more headroom for multitasking and increasingly demanding macOS features.
The Apple Post previously reported that the second-generation MacBook Neo was expected to adopt the A19 Pro chip and 12GB of RAM, and the latest report adds further weight to those plans.
The third change could be cosmetic, with Apple reportedly planning new color options for the 2027 model. The current MacBook Neo is offered in Silver, Blush, Citrus and Indigo, giving the entry-level Mac a more colorful identity than Apple’s MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lineups.
The details come as reported by MacRumors, citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who says Apple plans to release the second-generation model next year.
Apple launched the original MacBook Neo in March, introducing an A18 Pro-powered MacBook aimed at customers looking for a lower-cost route into the Mac lineup. The Apple Post reported at launch that MacBook Neo marked Apple’s first Mac powered by an iPhone-class A-series processor, rather than one of the company’s M-series chips.
The current machine includes a 13-inch Liquid Retina display and up to 16 hours of battery life. Apple originally launched it from $599 in the U.S., although the starting price was later increased to $699.
A move to the A19 Pro and 12GB of memory would allow Apple to strengthen the MacBook Neo without dramatically changing the formula that separates it from the more expensive MacBook Air. New colors could also give Apple another way to distinguish the second generation while retaining the approachable positioning of the original.
