Apple announces October 28 ‘Pro and tell’ event for new Macs and iPad mini

Apple has officially announced a special product experience for Wednesday, October 28, confirming its second major hardware event of the month as anticipation builds around new Macs, a redesigned iPad mini and the company’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro.
The event, titled “Pro and tell,” will take place in Los Angeles at 10 a.m. PT, or 1 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. in the UK. Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak confirmed the event on social media, writing that he “can’t wait to pro and tell next week” alongside Apple’s invitation artwork.
Apple’s Greg Joswiak shared the October 28 “Pro and tell” announcement, turning what had previously been a reported media experience into an official Apple event.
The announcement follows earlier reports that Apple had invited selected media to an all-day product launch experience in Los Angeles on October 28. At the time, the company had not publicly announced the gathering.

The biggest expected announcement is Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro. The redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch models are reported to feature OLED displays, direct touch input, significantly lighter enclosures and a Dynamic Island-style display cutout. Current reporting suggests the high-end models will use M5 Pro and M5 Max chips rather than M6 Pro and M6 Max.
The Apple Post recently detailed why the touchscreen MacBook Pro could represent one of the biggest changes to the Mac in years, with Apple preparing to cross a hardware boundary it has resisted for more than a decade.
Apple is also expected to introduce a more conventional entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip, alongside an M6 iMac. Those models are expected to retain designs similar to the current generation while bringing Apple’s latest silicon to more of the Mac lineup.
Our latest M6 Mac coverage explains how Apple’s next wave of Mac updates is expected to fit together, including the unusual possibility of new M6 Macs launching alongside higher-end MacBook Pro models powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max.
A redesigned iPad mini is also expected to be part of “Pro and tell.” Reports point to an OLED display, a revamped speaker system, a relocated FaceTime camera and the A20 Pro chip, potentially making this one of the most substantial iPad mini upgrades Apple has released.
The Apple Post has already rounded up the biggest changes expected for the next iPad mini, including the move to OLED and reports of a significantly higher starting price.
The October 28 announcement is particularly notable because Apple has already held one major product experience this month. Its October 13 “Welcome home” launch introduced HomeView, HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K, giving October an unusually dense Apple hardware schedule.
At the time of writing, Apple’s public Events page has not yet been updated with the October 28 experience, meaning Apple has not yet confirmed whether “Pro and tell” will include a livestream or prerecorded presentation for the public.
What is now official is the date, time, location and branding. Apple’s “Pro and tell” experience begins Wednesday, October 28 at 10 a.m. PT in Los Angeles, with some of the company’s most significant Mac and iPad hardware announcements of the year expected to follow.
