Apple has received a record-breaking 89 Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Apple TV+.
According to Apple, this year’s nominations span 15 Apple Original series and documentaries, with the company leading all networks in nominations across the Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Comedy Series categories.
Leading the way is the breakout comedy Widow’s Bay, which received 19 nominations, making it one of the most-nominated programmes at this year’s Emmy Awards. Close behind is the drama Pluribus, which earned 18 nominationsfollowing its debut season. Meanwhile, Shrinking received 10 nominations, Slow Horses secured nine, and Margo’s Got Money Troubles earned eight.
Apple also received nominations for a number of other Apple TV+ originals, including Your Friends & Neighbors, The Morning Show, Foundation, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Murderbot, Palm Royale, Smoke, Mr. Scorsese, The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy, and Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age.
“We are in awe of the world-class storytellers we have the opportunity to collaborate with every day and are deeply grateful to the Television Academy for celebrating them,” said Matt Cherniss, Apple’s head of programming, congratulating this year’s nominees.
The nominations continue Apple’s rapid rise in the streaming industry since launching Apple TV+ in 2019. The company says its original films, documentaries, and series have now received 850 award wins and 3,734 award nominations, including recognition for acclaimed titles such as Ted Lasso, Severance, CODA, and The Studio.
The winners of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced during the ceremony on September 14.
