Apple may have inadvertently leaked information about the rumored new Action button coming to the iPhone 15 Pro with its latest iOS 17 developer beta, which references nine assignment options for the new button that is rumored to replace the fixed ring/silent mute switch on current iPhone models.
As reported by MacRumors on Wednesday, iOS 17 code lists feature names related to the rumored new Action button, which will work similarly to the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra, which gives users the ability to program the button to begin a Workout, use the Stopwatch, turn on the Flashlight, or start a Shortcut.
The references in the iOS 17 beta suggest these nine options will be available to users: Accessibility, Shortcuts, Silent Mode, Camera, Flashlight, Focus, Magnifier, Translate, and Voice Memos.
Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to bring substantial upgrades over the current-generation iPhone 14 series.
